What We Do

Wordwell advances children's health, early literacy, and school readiness by connecting  families with books, literacy resources, educational materials, essential supplies, and developmental guidance through pediatric healthcare and community-based programs.

Programs are delivered by pediatric clinicians, clinic staff, volunteers, and community partners.

OUR MISSION

The Wordwell Foundation is dedicated to improving developmental, educational, and health outcomes for children and families from underserved communities.

Our programs combine tangible resources with guidance from trusted healthcare and community partners in order to promote healthy child development, family well-being, and long-term educational success.

Our programs support underserved families who are most vulnerable to poor health and educational outcomes.

Who We Reach

Wordwell currently provides these programs through pediatric clinics serving at-risk children and families in the Bronx, New York.

Our patient population is burdened by a myriad of health challenges as well as socioeconomic circumstances that foster poor health outcomes.

Why Our Timing Matters

Wordwell meets families during pediatric visits – this touchpoint is one nearly every family has, regardless of income, geography, or circumstance. This universal access creates a rare chance to intervene before stressors accumulate, during the critical early childhood years.

The Science of an Early Start

Research consistently shows that early gaps in literacy, developmental support, and access to care compound over time, resulting in disparities that last a lifetime. Early intervention and prevention can change a child’s trajectory entirely.
